INFORMATION
Welcome to the new site for Clay - Chalkville Wrestling.
Hopefully this site will be easier to keep and to find. School
is almost out and summer is fast approaching. Try to keep
in shape this summer, by going to the club, to workouts, and
to camps.   We must dedicate ourselves to return to our
place with the elite teams of Alabama.

Clay - Chalkville just completed its twelfth  year as a school. We are
located 15 miles northeast of the city of Birmingham, just off I - 59 north.
Our school is 6A  (the largest classification) and has 1450 students. Our
first year as a school we competed in the 5A classification and finished
sixth in the state tournament with Dusty Washburn (135 lb.) becoming
the first student to win a State Championship at Clay-Chalkville HIgh. In
2008 we finished 15th in the State Tournament, our lowest finish ever,
we had a very young team with half the team being first year wrestlers.
With the majority of our team returning we feel the future is bright.

Interested In Becoming Part of Clay’s Winning Tradition?

Without a doubt, wrestling is a unique sport.  It's one of the few
sports that is truly democratic -- where the small guy's contribution
counts as much to the team's success as the big guy's contribution.
It's six minutes of all-out effort and excitement. It's a blend of both a
one-on-one, mano-a-mano sport -- as well as a team sport.
Coach Robertson’s team is coming along very nicely again this
year. However, more depth is needed in a number of weight
classes.  The team would welcome you with open arms.
What's in it for you?  Many things.  You'll get in great shape.
You'll make friends in all grade levels.  You'll have fun.  You'll learn
some important lifetime values, like how commitment, dedication,
and hard work pay off in attaining your goals in life. You'll be part of a
long and very distinguished winning tradition at Clay Chalkville.
Wrestling has one of  the best overall records of any male Clay
Chalkville sports.
If interested, there are several things you can do.  For one, you can
talk to anyone on the wrestling team.  Look them up on the team
roster at the team website.  They'd be happy to talk to you about
wrestling.  You can also stop by the small gym after school, anytime
during the months of November and December. Watch a practice.
Give it a test drive!
You can also click below on "SEND COACH AN E-MAIL". Coach
"Robo" would be happy to talk with you about wrestling.  Don't be
shy!  Give wrestling a try!
                                     Join the WINNING TRADITION!!!

CLAY-CHALKVILLE WRESTLING PHILOSOPHY

Our objective is to bring the best in young people and develop
character. All areas of championship wrestling will be
covered; sportsmanship, positive mental attitude, and doing your
best as at all times. The Clay-Chalkville wrestling program will
focus on the student athlete first and winning second. The student
athlete's performance is our main concern.

Wrestling plays an educational part in the development of a boy.
The fundamental ingredient that every successful wrestler
must acquire, and that has great carry-over value after his student
days is self-discipline, from self-discipline will stem
self-confidence.

The Clay-Chalkville wrestling progra.m and coaching staff's
long-term goal is to produce dedicated athletes. Dedicated
athletes do not break trading rules or school regulations. They are
goal oriented (both individual and team); punctual for practices,
meetings, and matches; conscientious about practice attendance;
and responsible students.

OUR MAIN PRIORITY IS BUILDING CHAMPIONS
          ON AND OFF THE MAT
Dr. Hammonds okay's westling room to be built at the
Middle School starting June 2008. It should be ready
by June 2009.
Please plan on attending our year-end Wrestling program on
Tuesday, May 20th, at 6:00 in the High School lunchroom.
